Sorry the site was in maintenance mode for so long a time. I still haven’t fixed what needs to be fixed, so the site will go back into maintenance mode sometime soon, but not before Sunday, March 4, and maybe not that soon. Hopefully it will be better than before when everything gets finally gets fixed.

Ohh man, I missed RORM. I recommended the game to a friend and I felt sad for him not to be able to read on RORM like I did after finishing the game.

    Hail leader !
Don’t worry, i still give offerings to straydog, praying for this webstie wealth, and yours mostly.
Take the time you need, don’t worry, us insane lurkers will still be there waiting and welcoming you. (and at the dawn of time, we will rule the world under your commands of course.)

Joke aside, take the time you need personally and professionaly. You have my full support.

I’m with BrYaN55: I suggested Rule of Rose to a friend, as I’ve done many times, suggesting he make it through the game at least once on his own (the best way to play), then pay a visit to this site if he even remotely enjoyed it. He ended up adoring the game, but was disappointed when I told him the site was currently down. Now that it’s back up, I’m sure he’ll be spending the hours and hours and days and days we’ve all spent here over the years himself. Good to see you’re back, PN!

Great to see that this place is up and running again. I was starting to fear the worst. I hope this place’ll last a long time to come, yet.

It warms my heart to learn that RORM was missed. I’ll see if I can’t think of something new to write a blog post about. When the future site maintenance work is finished, hopefully there will be a properly functioning “search” feature for everyone to use. And maybe I can get some unused sound files up in a playable format for us to discuss.

  10. Lussh says:

Eh, but… Won’t the world end this year if the search function is fixed ? Things won’t be the same, that’s for sure : 9
I’ll warm your heart even more with blankets if you need : )

(No new ideas concerning Ror though. The one about inugami i read somewhere (search) was good.)
Yes, your website was missed, and I didn’t count the number of time i saw the white maintenance page. No jokes, at least fifty times.

    Viva yaoi & yuri

I genuinely freaked out for a while there.

PN, I don’t know if you looked into “The Sandman” story I mentioned a little while back, at the time I didn’t have entirely too much information on it, but the more I look at it, the more I think could very well be an influence on the game.

“The Sandman” was written by E.T.A Hoffman, and in the story, the main character writes letters throughout the book, one of them being to a girl named Clara. There is also a scene that describes a woman as being an automation, or rather, a kind of robotic doll. It’s described that the hands are able to become screwed off completely, and then there’s the part about the sandman taking the eyes…

When I look at the images of Clara in her boss form, she is missing eyes, and has a number of odd stitches, and she moves very mechanically.

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think the Game makers could have taken inspiration. ETA Hoffman was also the original author for the story of the Nutcracker, his version was called “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice.”

Anyways, the video I included at the top is a short animation someone created, based on “The Sandman”.

This website has a great discussion about the story, and a summary if you don’t want to read it.

“The Sandman” juxtaposes psychological horror with supernatural elements, and part of its appeal is exactly that the reader is never sure if Nathaniel is simply losing his mind or if he’s really being haunted, like his father before him might have been.

A quote from the website itself, and it’s rather spot on. Hoffman, the author, really made the idea famous of making a story where it’s difficult if not impossible to tell if the main character is going through something fantastic, or if it’s just in his head.

While I don’t think this is too relevant, there was a musical made called “Tales of Hoffman” based on ETA Hoffman and his love life. If he really is an inspiration for the characters Hoffman and Clara, than perhaps there’s some interesting stuff in the musical. (I did recall reading Hoffman depicted as a drunk in the musical.)

  15. I’m so happy to hear that the site is still up and going
I love to read theorise and to think about them myself (even tough I apparently been to shy to post anything of value)
Hope to read more interesting stuff in he future!

    Welcome, CrimsonValley!

  17. Lussh says:

    Hail leader.
It’s been a while since i saw your last insightful theories. Don’t tell me you’re already done with Ror ? Cooooome ooooon, you know you want to give some more to us minions.

What about the blankets in the unused sound files, the difference between rat stick & stick of justice, or the ery important story behind the gun & gregory’s gun. (I still hold high my theory behind the bullet locations in the orphanage and the gun itself.)
    Work leader, work! (slap!)

  18. Daniel says:

    hey Lussh, how are you
I’m considering to continue our ROR project, and have it done.
just waiting for some spare time.

  19. Lussh says:

Hello Daniel. I’m quite fine, despite an impressive workload.
You’re welcome to continue thee project when you’ll feel like it, there’s no hurry.
The missing marble you spot is still not corrected on my maps : )
It would be for a make over, but I too have the roughs for project zero 2 (wii), 3 and 4, but wonder when i’ll be able to start them. Rougetsu island is going to be soooo big anyway.
We’ll be back, muah ah ah ah.
    Ror is not over yet.

  20. PokerNemesis says:

Okay, Lussh. I’ll see if I can track down where I’ve put the unused sound files (or, at least, my records of what they are) and write something about them. There are some potential clues there, for instance about what happened to Clara. I had put off doing this because I think this blog software is too broken/out-of-date to actually get any sound files to play. But I guess I can at least discuss them now, and then put up the actual sound files at a later date when this site is successfully repaired. And I also will get back to working on the two video projects that I’ve promised to do.

Currently I’ve been obsessed with getting into better physical shape, as I had let myself deteriorate badly through bad eating habits and too little physical activity. It has been a lot of work, but I’ve gotten much stronger and also lost a lot of weight (that I needed to lose). I still need to do a lot more to get into good shape, but I guess I can obsess a little less about this and find some time to do something for the faithful who still come by here.

  21. I didn’t want to post, because the text is barely readable, but I find it interesting. It’s the plate left to Hoffman portrait in the main entrance.

  22. The Elizabeth and James fashion line is sold at
Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales. These sunglasses give a classic look as they have survived in the fashion industry
for decades. If you are under doctor’s orders to limit physical activity it is unwise to try
to play basketball unles advised otherwise.
