Well, I think this explains the Stray Dog leaves sweets story completely! If Wendy's been leaving "biscuits, chocolate and candies" as "sweet guides to be found" for Joshua, she certainly wouldn't want any of the other orphans picking them up and eating them. So she creates the story that Stray Dog comes out at night, and lures the children with sweets. Now the kids leave the sweets alone, and Joshua can follow the trail to Wendy. Wonder why the creators left this out?

@ Liberte,
I'm glad to hear that you find the content here so absorbing!
I think there is very likely a connection meant to be made between the trails. Good catch!

At first time Jennifer were in the GingerBread House, it was when Gregory kept her Captive, calling her Joshua.
Once freed by Wendy, she went to the orphanage.

i'm in doubt about a second Visit to the GigerBread House...

Maybe it were when Jennifer visited her in the GigerBread House Chapter, or another visit...

I've been lurking here now for 9 hours in one sitting (seriously), also, excuse me for my half assed english.

And I decided to post on this one since I thought that I could provide at least a little bit of info, even if it's not much.

It is obvious that the gingerbread house is a reference to the story of Hansel and Gretel.

In this post, even though we are not able to exactly read the words, together with the drawing of the dotted trail between the gingerbread house and the other place it's implied that something will guide them.

Now, take a look at the story of Hansel and Gretel:

<blockquote>"Hansel and Gretel are the young children of a poor woodcutter. When a great famine settles over the land, the woodcutter's second, abusive wife concocts a plan to take the children into the woods and leave them there to fend for themselves, so that she and her husband, with two fewer mouths to feed, might not starve. The woodcutter opposes the plan but finally, and reluctantly, submits to his wife's scheme. They are unaware that in the children's bedroom, Hansel and Gretel have overheard them. After the parents have gone to bed, Hansel sneaks out of the house and gathers as many white pebbles as he can, then returns to his room, reassuring Gretel that God will not forsake them.

The next day, the family walk deep into the woods and <strong>Hansel lays a trail of white pebbles</strong>. After their parents abandon them, the children wait for the moon to rise and illuminate the pebbles. They return home safely, much to their stepmother's horror. Once again provisions become scarce and the stepmother angrily orders her husband to take the children further into the woods and leave them there to die. Hansel and Gretel attempt to gather more pebbles, but find the doors locked and find it impossible to escape.

The following morning, the family treks into the woods. <strong>Hansel takes a slice of bread and leaves a trail of bread crumbs for them to follow home</strong>."</blockquote>

I don't know if the connection is of any importance, but I just wanted to point it out.

Also, creds for making this blog (even tho I'm a little late).

PokerNemesis said:
<blockquote>As Mokgrok said, we can find this May 8 drawing on page 4 (Preface).</blockquote>
Cool, I feel somewhat important.

Getting to the topic at hand, the obscured word looks like it begins with an "s", so I think that it may be just the word "sweet street" repeated again. I could possibly be wrong, but that's simply my input.

I finally found my Rule of Rose software manual. As Mokgrok said, we can find this May 8 drawing on page 4 (Preface).

From this, let me direct your attention to the drawing at the beginning of this blog-post:

Following the path away from the rose garden, by the yellow dot along side of the path, there are the words "sweet street".

At the end of the path is the word "chocolate" (this can be very clearly seen, when one looks at page 4).

On the path, midway between "sweet street" and "chocolate" is another pair of words, one of which is "sweet". Unfortunately, on page 4 the other word is covered up by the overlay of a blue butterfly. So we can only see it in the picture above. The obscured word is written vertically on the page. Can you see it? Can you make out what it is?

I tried sharpening the image.
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/9325/dsadt.jpg
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/9773/fdsp.jpg

The last word on the second line seems to be indeed "late" or something among those lines. To me, it goes something like this:

B(...) (...), (...) (...) (...)!
S(...) (...) to be late!

Also, this blog has just brought back my lost interest for the game xD Must find it somewhere~
