At the beginning of the “Rag Princess Sews” chapter of Rule of Rose, Jennifer is at the gift-box and reads the poster there:

This is an emergency. Joshua the bear is missing. Search teams are on the lookout. The person who finds him will receive a red crayon and will be invited to join the Aristocrat Club.
Red Crayon Aristocrats.
(There is a drawing of the Joshua the bear doll, wearing his ribbon-tie, on the poster. Crossed out on the poster is writing that says: This month’s gift: three piglets.)

If, at the beginning of the “Sir Peter” chapter, Jennifer goes straight to Wendy’s bed in the Sickroom, she will find Wendy in her bed.

Pressing “x”, by her bed we get the text:

The Lonely Princess spoke nervously while suppressing her cough.

And then we hear, vocalized by Wendy:

“Mr. Bunny is gone.”

Pressing “x” more, Wendy says (in the text only):

“Mr. Bunny was taken by the Aristocrats… Please save him.”

In that scene, Wendy seems to be describing herself as if she is separate from the Aristocrats—not one of them. Certainly she doesn’t seem to be able to control the Aristocrats, as one would expect if Wendy was the Princess of the Rose.

After the forest cut-scene at the end of the “Sir Peter” chapter, Jennifer returns to the throne room.

The SinnerChrono gives the following description in his game-script:

* – Jennifer lies unconscious in the Aristocrat Club’s room. Joshua is seated
above her in one of the two highest chairs, as usual.

Joshua : Are you awake? So, Jennifer, now do you know what a bad girl you
were?

…Hmm. Is that so? You still don’t understand. Well then, I’ll
have you read these books…

* – Three storybooks lie below Joshua. A girl is a white dress momentarily
appears in the shadows.

Joshua : Hurry, hurry! Read another story, Jennifer!

* – Joshua laughs.

I have replayed this scene several times without ever seeing any girl in the shadows. Am I somehow missing it, or is this a false report?

Has anybody ever seen this girl?

If so, please describe exactly where and when we should look in order to see her.

The kitchen knife (an equipable weapon) is found, during the “Sir Peter” chapter of Rule of Rose, on the table in the Crew’s Quarters were Diana can often be found sitting. This area of the airship, like the dormitory in the orphanage, can be thought of as Diana’s special area.

The kitchen knife doesn’t look bloody on the table before Jennifer picks it up, nor does it appear bloody as she holds it, but looking at the kitchen knife in the inventory one can see that it is unmistakably very bloody. The blood is thick on the handle and a small area of the blade near the handle. The tip of the blade, and the majority of the blade (except for near the handle), looks shiny and clean. I don’t know how to explain that pattern of blood on the knife. Do you have any suggestions?

In the “Unlucky Clover Field” chapter of Rule of Rose, Jennifer can find a paring knife behind the bar in the cafeteria of the airship.

Looking at the paring knife in the inventory, the knife doesn’t look bloody. But if one equips the paring knife, and looks at it as Jennifer carries it in her hand, the knife definitely can be seen to be colored dark red over the tip half of its blade. This can be seen, it should be emphasized, long before Jennifer has an opportunity to use the paring knife as a weapon against imps.

Should this be regarded as a clue?

In the “Bird of Happiness” chapter of Rule of Rose, one must go up some stairs to reach an area called Central Stairway C in order to obtain the final torn piece to assemble the “Family Chart”. This is an area where there are a lot of troublesome bird imps.

Bird imps are hard to kill, and their strikes do a lot of damage, so I think players of the game probably tend to be preoccupied with survival in this area and not sight-seeing. Perhaps that is why an interesting sight to see, a hangman’s noose, hasn’t been reported previously.

Don’t neglect to notice that the category for this blog-post is “humor”. This isn’t a serious theory!

~

In the “dog ending” of Silent Hill 2, we learn that it was the dog who was secretly controlling Silent Hill and making all of the bad things happen.

See the YouTube video of the “dog ending” of Silent Hill 2.

Could it be that this can give us a blazing insight into the true solution of Rule of Rose’s mysteries?

Jennifer found a stray dog and named it Brown. A stray dog!   Think about it.  Brown is actually the only character in the game that is truly a stray dog!

A chalk drawing on the the outside of the orphanage has the caption: “Stray Dog gives us sweets.” How did Jennifer obtain sweets throughout the course of the game? Brown led Jennifer to the sweets, that’s how!

Last Monday—April 27, 2009—was the busiest day (in terms of web traffic) on Rule of Rose Mysteries since I installed the plug-in that is keeping track of such things: 1,537 visits (not counting my own visits) to pages on this site.

I don’t know how much of that was generated by bots, and how much by lurkers, but I am nonetheless encouraged by high traffic indicators into thinking that this site has some readers who are enjoying my posts and the comments of the comment-makers here.

At the time that I started this blog, I figured that what little popularity the Rule of Rose game ever had was probably long over with, and I thought I’d be lucky if I would get a handful of readers. I’m actually quite surprised to be continuing this blog 19 months later.

It seems that people are still discovering and enjoying the game, and if I’ve played a role in helping Rule of Rose get the appreciation due to it, then I am very happy.
