Correct me if you’ve said it, but wouldn’t it be raining in the first picture above since that’s supposed to be the aquarium-orphanage? That’s why it’s raining so hard, since it represents the water, and the fish ‘swimming’ in the wet sky?

There are water plants, that could be imagined as trees, waving in the water of the aquarium near the orphanage model. So perhaps the better question would be… why no trees in one of the views?

I’m glad that you would think so.

The picture in my header actually has nothing to do with Rule of Rose. I found it on some pictures-for-sale website when I was looking for a good header image for this blog. I originally had in mind a header image involving red crayons or roses. But when I happened upon this photo, it felt so very Rule of Rose to me, and so emotionally evocative, that I knew I wanted to use it. But I did worry, early on, that other people might think that this mansion didn’t look enough like the orphanage mansion. So I’m very glad that you think that it does!

But of course, you are right, it is more like the setting of the aquarium mansion (in that there are no walls). And the dark clouds match. It is, however, on a hill (and in that respect a bit like the “Strange Hill” mansion.
